Ported enclosure sounds "funny"

it will make use of the space more cleanly but ithe output wont be as "two woofers" as you might think. fun to mess with though those woofers have to be better than the mtxterminaters i had 15 years ago when i was messing with isobaric boxes

I know i'll be losing a couple db's with the isobaric

(+3db for ported-3db for isobaric = 0db //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif )

it's all about the design that sounds just the way i like it.

still not there, i was close a couple of times //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

if you tuned it to 28hz and its not picking up lows, i could tell you the tuning might be way way off a box tuned to 28hz should drop

I put two no name 10" Full range 30w rms subs into a bandpass for the hell of it and those things actually had some kick and like 4x the power handling in that **** box... and it did get quite low, wich surprised the hell out of me, but far as SQ goes, it was Crap...hehe.

A non-fried vc does the trick ... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif

This one only plays bursts of low ...

Now i know why i had it in the garage ... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wallbash.gif.1310150c49dd52e0fbe1813a0681e5c3.gif

Non-fried sub drops nice.

grtz.

Dred

So what, the sub was fried all this time?
Yes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif

Didn't perform well from the start, not enough output.

When i push the dustcap it starts playing low tones also but only for short periods,

not the whole note but only the "highenergy" part.

I hope you understand what i'm trying to explain ... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I replaced the sub for the one i used in the sealed enclosure (same type/specs)

and this one drops pretty good. Enough to make me happy.

No "funny" noise whatsoever

Dred

Did you use a subsonic filter at all? Its usually a good thing to have on any setup, much less a crappy sub in a box tuned lower then the FS of the sub.

Oh, and if the sub didnt matter as much to the setup as the box, we'd be all using q-power subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
