is there anything you need to do different when designing a ported downfiring enclosure? I searched but did not find any answers regaurding ports.

Make sure it's at least the ports width away from the floor? I think thats all, if that..

correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't the floor act as another port wall and affect tuning? increase the length of the port and lower the tuning frequency?

So it does not matter if the subwoofer is mounted on the same side the Port side #2 is?

Not quite sure what you are asking... If you are asking is it okay to have the subs mounted on a different face than the port, then yes... that is okay.

I used to believe always put the port on the same face as the woofer, and still pretty much believe this for an SQ system... For SPL/SQL i don't feel it is necessary.

the back wall is where port wall 2 runs parallel with. I also want mount the subwoofer on the same wall.

just remember that the closer the sub is to the opening of the port the more free air the sub is. i would go subs down and port back to get the most reflection possible.
