ShaunMac 10+ year member Thank You Come Again! 581 0 GEORGIA Mar 18, 2003 #2 It's L-shaped because they need a port longer than the depth of the box. It's simply a space issue. If your box is 12" deep and your port has to be 20" you can simply make it L-shaped to get the extra length you need.
