looking to have a box built for my idmax. is 70 bucks a good price to have one made, carpeted and tuned? sounds good to me what do you guys think?

also should i go with a 2.55 cubic ft or 2.72 cubic ft ported box? is .17 going to make a huge difference?

thanks for your input guys

oh and what should i tune the port at? 28hz is recommended for the 2.55, i like the idmax for the sq/spl but im a little more towards the spl so should it be tuned somewhere in the 30's?

Building is cheap... it's the shipping that costs a lot.

My rule of thumb is, a box under 3.5 cuFt is one sheet of wood.

That's $28 bucks... then $20 bucks for carpet, and that's not really including the glue, adhesive, and silicone.

So, that person's only making $20 bucks or so.

i got the point on the cheap part. but as far as the port... is 32hz for the port good for a little bit of SQ and a bit more SPL than 28hz?

I would not fear 28hz with the idmax 12, at 32 you'll get like

an extra 1db in the mid 40hz range, but lose more in the 20's.

You need to worry about port area, shoot for 3x12.5; which will

be very long internally 33" for 32Hz and 45" for 28hz.

Also remember 2.5 cubes is after woofer and port displacement, if not

the tuning is all off.
