Ported Box Question...

Ok i designed a ported box for my two 10 inch l7's tuned to 32hz but it didnt fit in my trunk. My dad spent a buncha time doin it and he tried to salvage the wood to make it fit. And what he ended up doing was making two different size ported boxes tuned to two different frequencies. One box is still tuned to 32 hz, and the box is 2.4 cu ft. While the other box is tuned higher, around 42 hz, and it only has around 1.6 cu ft. He thinks we can put each sub in different boxes and it will sound good with 500 watts rms going to each sub, this will sound horrible wont it? I've been trying to tell him this but he just wont listen, so i hoped you guys could knock some sense into him. I have new designs with the box tuned to 38hz completed and he is reluctant to build it.

Thanks for your help.

Allen.

Depends. one sub could raise lower frequencies, and totally complement the one doing higher frequencies. In that case, it'd be a raised flat response, about the best thing you could ask for.

Or, it'll sound like crap. Try it.

If you don't like it, build this new enclosure yourself. I've done several enclosures before, are they really that hard? Your dad doesn't have to be the one building it.
