new here. whats up? im in process of building my first ported box. i have built boxes but it was about 12 years ago. and i see things are little different now. i have civic coupe. i need some dimensions for a port or ports. the box will be 33"W x 16"H x 22"D. subs and port facing into car, back seat is always down. will a

14.5"H x 2.5"W x 19"D port be enough for both subs. or will it need to be larger? any help appreciated.

i'd assume you would need more port area for 2 12's... sounds a little small. i use a 2 x 12 port for 1 8'' //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

edit: its also better to start from scratch, than to take an already existing box (assuming thats where you got ur dimensions from) and build it that way. hard to just figure up how big a port SHOULD be in that box, and try to figure out displacement of everything and have it work out perfect.

also, what are you trying to tune the box at?? have any preferences?

this is from scratch. i measured everything this week. thats the largest box that i can fit in my trunk. im building this afternoon. i was told to tune it around 34hz. im just trying to figure out what size port i need to run. thanks again

if thats maximum outside dimensions you are allowed, your port can only be 13'' (height). i'd give it 3 - 4 inchs per 12'' subwoofer.

i dont know the specs of the subwoofer, and frankly, its quite early (6 in the am here) i'm probably heading to bed soon. probably wont look it up. but leave me a pm of exactly what you are wanting (air space per sub, common chamber OR divider, tuning frequency) and i'll design you a box when i wake up for free. or maybe before i go to bed if you are quick about it all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.

ok, thanks for replies. i want a box common chamber tuned to about 32-35 hz. the subs are rockford power T2 12's. they recomment 2.25 per sub and mounting depth of 9". i have never built any ported boxes so this is kinda different. ports are confusing to me. i have about 850 watts per sub for now. thanks
