Ported box FI Q 12 ???

I'm making my first box for a fi q 12, probably tuned to around 31-32. Any suggestions on how to start?? I've never built a ported box, only sealed. Its going inside of a genesis coupe, trunk space is kinda tight. Any help is appreciated

get some scrap wood or a cardboard box and see what are the biggest dimensions you can fit in the trunk opening.

or get a tape measurer and measure your max lengths. if your not sure about a dimension then give your self an inch or so to play wit

Ok. All these online calculators asks me for the port length, how do i know what size port?

Yeah you can get RAM to make a design or if your trunk is super tight you can get some one to fiberglass a mold into your trunk so its perfectly snug. (if you know any one doing it)

my buddy just did a 12" ported.. box is like 2.6 cuft. tuned low also

should have no problem getn that Q12 in there!!

I have 32l , 22w and 16h to work with.

If i tune it to 30hz, and feeding it 1200 watts, will it still be loud? I know they say u lose power the lower you tune, but it sounds better.

whatever your box is tuned to, it will play loudest at that tuning and the sub will have the least amount of excursion there. anything below excursion and the sub starts going "out of control". tuning a box lower will give you much better low end extension and help to flatten out the response curve
