Portable HDD

Hi, new here but have a question if someone could help me on. I recently bought a Dual XDMA6630 Stereo which has a USB input on it and I can play music through a Portable 500gb hard drive with no problems but my actual question is is there a way to create different albums on this hard drive so I can switch to a certain album instead of having to flip through thousands of songs to find one I like? My buddy suggested trying to partition the drive into different sections but if I were to do that I would have to make a hell of a lot of partitions then I thought about creating folders and doing it that way but not sure if the Stereo wold even recognize the folders and still just flip through songs. BTW the stereo is one I bought at Walmart. Any thoughts, suggestions for software or anything would be very appreciated, thanks -Cory

Hmmmm, didn't think of that. Don't think the manual is going to explain to me how to configure a hard drive in order to create albums on it. Mostly just how to use the Stereo. Not sure let me have a look.

Should tell you how to search through your folders. Normally you have artist folders with album folders for each album by the same artist.

Do you have all your songs in just 1 folder? I don't see how you could possibly have it like that, it would be too much of a ***** to find a certain album/artist/song. Might not be bad if you don't have much music, but when you have over 14,000 songs, it would be hell.

Thanks for the reply, wasnt sure if my stereo would recognize different folders because the Ipod can be controlled from within the device and my hard drive has to be controlled through the stereo it self, but I will give that a try and see how it goes.

Because a car stereo isn't as intuitive as a computer, my computer is very organized.

Any luck? If you can find a Rockford Fosgate Omnifi DMP1 10 or 20GB juke box it would be cool to use. I have one of these installed in one of my cars. It hooks up to a audio in on you H/U, has faceplate and case with a hard drive. You can list, have playlists, etc with this thing. You can take the hard drive out and download songs on your computer to it and plug it back into the case a go back to jammin to music. I used it for years; I brought a wifi antenna (3 inches) and it hooks up to this unit just by a usb cable. You can sync with a media server in your house. So every time you pull into your driveway or garage you music will download directly from your computer to the hard drive. No need to do anything.
