So i'm almost done installing audio stuff in my new miata; pioneer gm-6300f amplifier (bridged to 150w rms X2) and polk dxi-6500 component speakers (100w rms). I rewired everything, etc etc, took me pretty much all day.
So the car came with a real sweet walmart generic headunit (vr-3 somethingorother) with usb input and a front aux mount, 16w rms. I'd like to use it, a fancy deck isn't secure in a convertible, it doesn't have to drive any speakers, and i listen to my mp3 player 97% of the time. I don't want to hamstring my audio set up though, so how much influence does this junky head unit have, and how can i minimize it?
I'm pretty comfortable running wires and turning screws, but i don't really know much about audio.
Thanks!
