Portable harddrivesssszssz!@!@

Basically I need a portable hard drive to keep my work stuff backed up.

I found a 400GB Western Digital at best buy for $87 which seems to be the best deal so far....as far as in store purchase goes.

I want a portable harddrive that can take some abuse.

I don't plan on beating up or dropping it, but I want to make sure the files don't get deleted or the hard drive to go crazy.

Are the brands really that much difference in quality?

Are they all the same like USB drives and CD-Rs??

Western Digital is one of the top word of mouth.....is there something better/ more secure?

Hitachi is a failure. There are some brands more prominent to fail. Id pick up the WD.

Make your own. Buy a external enclosure for $10 and a 1TB drive for like $90 and your set.

he said portable, not some 3 pound brick that needs an ac adapter to work

pretty much any portable drive is ok since they all use the 5 main manufactures for drives

if you want something that can take abuse go ssd

I have a 750gb thats almost full of stuff from my biz comps lol hasnt gave me any trouble yet and ive had it for a yr and a half.

yeah 320 for $60 i know it isnt just here locally either a cousin in cali picked up several for his business and my aunt brought back a couple from san antonio for school i personally have three one on my 360 one for my wifes laptop and a third i kinda use to transfer files too big to be emailed and stuff

Ive been running a WD for about 4 years now problem free.. I NEED to get a new one and back it up cause all the kids pics are on it. If it failed, Id be SCREWED!

i'm almost paranoid about backups. I've got my main drive backed up to my backup drive and have all my important documents and files backup the the same drive as well as backed up on 3 seperate flash drives.
