port wall flex.

Ok i built a 5.5 cube 32hz box for a 3515. I have about 6-7 screws down i think in the port wall but i can not stop it from flexing and rattling.. i have put wood glue down in it and it stopped the top but the bottom still flexes and rattles and it is becoming quite annoying. anyone got a idea as to how i could eliminate this?

You can try fiberglassing on top of it, may help with it's rigidity.

I had a box once that had a port wall about 34" wide (long narrow slot port), and fiberglass helped significantly but proper bracing would be best of course.

i didnt do not have any kinda bracing for the port wall.. it all comes from it flexing during lower freq but the upper it does not even rattle.

there is a reason the screw broke I had a box like that and that will just re-direct the weakness. I eventually had to cut my losses, get rid of the box after I replaced screws and added brad nails. The box will continue to snap screws if it isn't braced.

Its not the best box it leaks a tad but nothing too bad.. Its a temp box im getting a new vehicle next week moving up from an s10 to a SUV so maybe a new box will be built in the next few weeks. What could i use for bracing this set up is the first 1000wrms+ set up i have owned. So this is new ground. I have 45s on the corners and liquid nails thickly applied to all corners and on all cracks seen while building. Its not box builder quality but its a nice temp box.

Stick a 1in dowel rod in the middle of it. Like of ur port is 4in from top to bottom stick a 4in dowel rod in the port. That should help.

In the port? wouldn't that obstruct air flow and cause port noise?
