Port to small for HD315?

quickie for ya peps.

afraid i might of built my port so small for my hd315

haven't tested it yet but the port is 2.5 wide by 15.5 tall which is 38.75 in^2

This sub is a 15" and it seems like people have used much larger ports?

the box is about 4.5 cubes tuned to about 38 hz

did i screw up or will it work fine.. the edges are sanded down to reduce port noise.

Too small.... by AQ's recommendations, it should be almost twice that area.

They recommend 16sq in per cf, so 72 sq in of area in your case...

Agreed...you're going to starve that sub.

if 15.5 is the tallest you can go your gonna wanna have you port about 4.5" to 4.75" wide. then that will give you about the recommended port size. you should have around 72in^2.

**** this is gonan **** i dont have the top of the box in yet but i have 2 sides of the port wood glued in =(

any ideas on how to remove glued wood easily... its not screwed in yet. just lots of glue.

i think i can work with 4" wide which will give about 62 in^2 i know this isnt enough... but any more and i would take to much volume from the box itself....

the dimensions are 28x20x17 or around there giving me about 4.5 cubes

after sub and port that will drop below 4 cubes and the recommended is 4-4.5

im afraid i don't have much more space to sacrifice.. i wouldn't be able to slide it into my trunk if it was any bigger 8-/

Any body have any alternatives?

i could always get some poly fill but im afraid this sub would blow it right out of the box

i say put a top on it and see how it sounds, if it doesnt do it for you have someone else build you a box, and whats with that bracing?

bracing is bracing... you can never have to much..

i build my own stuff no matter how many times i need to...

im a hands on guy.

i can build another box easily, i like to do it i just need to run down and grab another slab of mdf =(

its just a hastle to redo it 8-/

ima try to cut out the port i have right now and compromise between port size and box volume...

anyone have any usefull hints?

whats the worst that can happen with a port to small?

port noise....

sub less effecient.....

correct me if im wrong, but anything else?
