port to close to trunk?

I built a new box and the port is now only about half an inch away from the trunk. The box is a lot quiter facing the trunk but sounds ok facing forward. Should i have more room because the port is 6.5 inches wide. If i keep them facing forward is there anyway to seal the subs off from the trunk without using fibergalss or mdf?

Theres really no other way other than using an MDF/fiberglass wall plus deadening. Thats not enough room at all for the port to breath. Generally I go with at least the ports width spacing...even half would work...
