Port questions

When I'm designing a box, in my mind, there are three distinct areas. My question is this: is the yellow area counted as port volume or box volume?

Also, when designing a port, to keep the same tuning do you simply need to keep the same volume? Or do you need to factor port face area and port length separately somehow? I'm trying to convert a circular port measurement into a square one.

If port wall is as far away from the rear wall as the port is wide, yes, and it would add to your port length. If you need a design, I will do one for you. If not, you can still email me and I will explain some things to you.

Assuming that the distance from the end of the port to the back wall is the same as the port width, the port will use the corner of the box as added length.

I understood buck...but ram made more sense lol so if the ratio between the two distances mentioned earlier is not exactly one to one...then what?

Than either A) Its less, and its a correction factor thing.. usually lowers tuning I believe. Can lead to bad things.

If its more, then its box space.
