Port questions

I'm gonna start my box build for my Treo CSX18 and needed help on the ports. I'm gonna go with aeros this time, but I'm not sure how many. I'm working with 4" pvc, so how many would I need for daily beating?

The box will be roughly 7.8cuft subs up/port back in a trunk, that is before ports. I'm aiming for mid 30s tuning for daily, and I'm trying to keep the port area around 90-120sq.in. I also went to Lowes today and all they have is the white, thick walled pvc. Do any of you know where I can get the thinner walled pvc?

Help me out here, since my first aero tuned box was a disaster:crap:

you need schduel 120 pvc,, not gonna get it off the shelf,, need to go to a WELL KNOW plumers warehouse, or store,, and you have to buy in 20ft lenghts,, um less there nice and cut you a deal on some scraps

have you tried your local irrigation store? I did landscaping until the economy took a dump and i got laid off, but most irrigation stores will have what your looking for. shoot check there dumpsters //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif i scored about 20" of 6" abs two weeks ago! haha. as for how many ports remember that the average sq in of port for a vent is about 12-15 sq in per cubic foot. for aeros you need half of that per square foot. one 4" aero has 12.56 square inches. go from there

I had thought of doing 8 four in ports. Did you mean per cuft?

huh? or a box thats 7.8 cubes? where did you get one from? im confused haha. i would actually go with four 4" thats 50.24 square inches of UN-FLARED port area. since he is using pvc.

with four 4" UN-FLARED ports each one needs to be 16.37 inches long to achieve a 30hz tuning. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

edit:

with 8 each would need to be 35.67 inches long and thats 100.8 sq in. dayum thats alot. you only need half of the port are needed for a conventional slot. so u wanted 100-120 you only need 50-70 with round ports.

lolz, I thought this was a 15. My B. 8x 4" is wayyy too much. Four 4"s would be good.

Only 4x4" ports? I've seen 15 boxes with 3-4 aeros, are you sure thats enough? Maybe six of them. I'll listen to you guys on this one, since I'm new to aeros

4"chrome exhaust tips ftw....they are thin and look good if you leave them out of the box, just a little hard to cut

Um....... No. Thanks for sharing. The ports won't really even be seen since its in a trunk, but I do like your creativity

4 or 5 at the most, 4 would be about right 8 sq inches per cubic foot so 8x8=64 divide that by 12.5= 5.16 so you could do 5 if you want but 4 should be sufficient.
