Port Question

sorry about the crudeness of the pic i am in a bit of a hurry. you are looking at the top of the box.

"S" are the subs.

in box A the depth of the box is 15.5" -MDF 14.0"

the length of the port needs to be 13.25" - MDF 12.5" so my question is 1.5" from the back wall enough for the port? and if not will box B be an ok design? the sub is a 4 9/16 deep. so the port would be a few inches behind the sub.....

oh the ports are 1.5"X10.5" and 13.25" deep

Box is going to be 36"W X 15"T X 15.25D"

this is what kicker recommended for the port. and the box volume needs to be about 1.50 after port displacement. i sketched the box already and have all the measurements but i thought i read somewhere that your dont want to have the port end near a wall? so the length of the port and the depth of box make it very close. the only place this port would fit in the box would be from the sides(which is 18" Deep)...... would this make any difference to the sound with the ports on the side?

From what I have always heard, you want the port's end to be atleast one port width (in your case, 1.5") away from any walls.

Thanks a ton so i have it 1.5" shoudl that be enough? Loneranger? Jmac? ss3072?

How ever wide your port is, it should be that wide from every wall.

If your port is too short to reach the back wall, just make sure you it is the correct width and have enough port area.
