port question

if i had one port that was w=3''xd=15.5''xL=34'' that accounted for .91cube ft of my box volume and my questions is would it work if i split that into two different ports one on each side of the box @ 1.5''x15.5''x34'' which would still account for .91 cube ft (still accounting for the thickness of the walls) will this work instead of the one port?
