Port Plug...help me out

OK here is the thing...I want more SPL. I know in order to do this I can either buy better subs or make a different box. Right now my box is tuned to 35hz. I want a box strictly for SPL but I don't want to have to be switching boxes for daily driving and for competition. Would it be possible for me to make a box and tune it to lets say 45hz and then for daily driving I lower the tuning using a port plug or even seal it up, I don't really care about how loud it is for daily driving I just want it to be able to get very loud at the shows.

Advice, suggestions, tips...help me out please

Do it then! I Designed a port plug for my Bhrama box- it used cairrage bolts run through the inside of the box out- epoxy'd down in there good. About eight of them. THen A MDF plug with holes drilled for the bolts, some foam rubberglued to one side (holes in that too). Then you bolt that down with nuts and washers.

I want to but Ive never even seen pics of this done before so I don't know how to do it.

I'm not going to MS Paint that shit... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Go to a hardware store and ask for 5 or 6" cairrage bolts. Drill holes around your port, stick them through (INSIDE STICKING OUT). Pound that shit in with a hammer. Epoxy it down.

Cut MDF slab bigger than the port, enough to accomodate the bolts you just put in around your port. Attach foam rubber to one side. Drill holes for your bolts.

Place cover over hole. Secure it with nuts and washers.

Doesn't sound easy...im going to look for pics

Only pic I could find was by TOOLOWTOGO that he built a CRX box for his MTX 9500s but I still don't see how he got the port plug in...

I just want to tune my box high for SPL and cover the ports (sealed box) for daily driving.

ive seen a few pics of port plugs on here but nothing you could get an ida from
Dammn...Could I just put like a "cover" or something to top off the port and make it a sealed box for daily driving and remover the "cover" on the port so it could then again be a ported box?

thats what he was tellign you to do with the bolts.

get 4 bolts

drill a hole at each corner of your port if you port is big it might take 6 bolts

cut a peice of 3/4 mdf big enough to cover the port and the 4 holes you drilled

drill holes in the peice you jsut cut to match the ones in the box

or you could always put the cutout of mdf over the port then drill all holes with it clamped in place so they line up

then from the inside of the box

push the bolts through the oles

glue them down air tight with epoxy and silicone

put a peice of weather stripping on the port side of the mdf cutout

place over bolts

add nuts to make it tight

really very simple process take about 15 min
