port noise?

I'm speaking in general, a 3.5" wide slotted port shoudln't give you post noise MOST of the time, right?
there is no general. ports could be as small as 2 inches in diameter and have no port noise on certain applications, whereas a 4 inch diameter port could produce tons of port noise in a certain application.

and as for having a 3.5 inch wide slot port; port area is two dimensional. so you could have a 3.5" wide port, but it might only be 8 inches high.

theres is no general port area. close to 1/2 the Sd of the driver is what competitors consider optimal.

Wha'ts the rule of thumb regarding port area? Oh yeah, get someone with experience to design your box... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

What would be the minimum size port with out port noise? I'm guessing a 4" round port shouldn't have port noise. And a slot port? What would be the minimum with out port noise? I'm guessing about 3" wide?
Depends on size of sub and then on excursion and then on tuning and box size. I would never go smaller that a 4 inch round for a single 10 and bigger than that going on up. Look into port area this is where slot ports come in handy due to their ability to "fit" into boxes easier.

On Orion’s site there H2 with Xmas of 29 MM and rated at 2000 RMS port diameter are 3" for 10s, 4" for 12s, and 5" for 15s. I don't know to trust that or not it just what it says. Link H2s
