port location

I was wondering if anyone has and info on where to place the port hole for the box i am about to build. I have a single 12" P3 shallow mount sub and plan to build a box with the volume of 1.25ft. I know that the requirements for the port are 4" X 10" which will be circular. I plan on having the sub face the rear bumper. I'm not sure if i should have the port hole on the speaker side or have it up towards the top of the box. Any suggestions or info..................

Port location, for the most part, doesn't matter. Just be sure to leave adequete "breathing room" for the port.
