Port length help

I'm going to build a box with an enclosure volume of 2.5 and tuned to 31hz. I have a length of port tubing that is 3" in diameter and 16" long. I was thinking of cutting it in half to make two ports. I used a calculator I found off Google and it said using two ports the length would be 12" or so. Does that mean each port is 12" or could I use the port I have and cut into equal 6" pieces?

Is that for each port?
Yes, that is per port. You also have to account for the port displacement so that the sub sees 2.5ft^3 after sub/port displacement. You can't just make a 2.5ft^3 box and then throw your sub and ports in there after figuring out the port length for a 2.5ft^3 box...because it isn't 2.5ft^3 after everything is all said and done, and your box volume and tuning will be way off.
