Port direction Q...what kind of results?

I am either going to pick up another 12" SD2.5 for my setup or sell it all and go with one 15" HD3, but either way, thats not what I really need to know.

My trunk is completely sealed off from the cabin with a sheet of metal, so I cut a rectangle in this sheet behind the middle arm rest so I could get some bass inside the car...

So my Q is if I just got a new box with the port in the middle and stuck it where the cutout is, would it have a lot more output than just having the box rearfiring?

Not sure because I don't really know if it's where the sub or port faces that affects the output.

Would I get different results if I went port through the cut-out and subs back or up as opposed to having them all on the same plane firing towards the cabin?

I would try it with my current setup but with the box I got now, I can't aim the port into the cabin...

You probably would not see an increase in output. The port is not the only part that produces bass. The sub and the port work together and on some frequencies, the port is not adding much output.

The best thing to do is play around with different placements. Or you could really seal the trunk/rear deck off well and make a 4th order bandpass that fires through the hole.
