Popping noise From SS VGA 1600.2

It is a new amp thats been in the loset for about a year. Everything was great when using the Rubi 1000.2 for the fronts. Now that it is switched the whole system pops when turned on and when the volume goes from 1 to 00 and back again. Now this maybe irrelevant because the car was too loud to hear the noise b4 but there seams to be electrical interferance(sp?) piped through everything but the subs. Where sould I start with this? Oh just onw more thing.. The manual said that anything over 300 watts should have the gound run back to the battery. Who in their right mind would do that if the body ground is sufficient and the battery ground has been upgraded to 1/0?

Is the new amplifier powering the fronts (rather than the sub) aswell?

My suggestion...unplug the RCA's from the "popping" amplifier and turn on the car/system.

If the pop still occurs, then it's an issue at the amplifier.

If it goes away, then it's possibly due to the amplifier turning on prior to the headunit. I would then try a turn-on pop eliminator next and see if that cures the problem.

Because the body ground might not be sufficient //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

While using a limit of 300w is a little on the extreme side IMHO....there are tests out there that show some vehicle's chassis to be equivalent to that of 4ga wire. So, for example, if you had one of these cars and were running enough power that larger than 4ga wire would be necessary, it would be beneficial to ground directly back to the battery with large gauge wire.

If I remember correctly, the VGA series has an RCA voltage sensing option to turn on the amp, along with the traditional option to use a 12v. remote trigger.

Be sure the switch is set to disable the rca sensing, if that doesn't fix it than I don't know what to tell ya //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

edit:: FYI, this was a known 'issue' with the VGA amps.
