pool cue company knowledge

i used to play tourneys and what-not. when i was stationed in Korea, i won the 8th army billiards championship 2 years running. Also played in the Can-Am (canadian-american) Invitational 2 years in 2000 and 2001

I used to play a lot too while I was in the air force. Won a couple of regional tournaments in Reno, Sacramento, and San Francisco. Has been now nearly 8yrs since I have played seriously (outside of the regular game @ the bar)

me and the guys just started goin to play pool on a regular bassis. none of us are amazing, but its fun enough that im interested in investing some money in a cue. i dont need anything amazing, so i went to a few stores and saw what cues i like the best. i came up with the cuetec excalibur. now i know its a beginner cue, but what do the experts here think of it? i like the grip of it and i like the outer layer of what i believe is graphite. it lets my hand slide real smooth, unlike wood.

i dont mean to hijack the thread, i just didnt think there was a need for a second pool cue topic...

Cuetec makes some nice cues for starters... a friend of mine had one while I was in the air force and it was nice enough for us to play w/.

of course... we used his stick when I was too drunk to warrant pulling out one of the Meuci's lol

well im used to shitty bar cues, so anything is better than that. i hate chalking my hands too, so the graphite will be a nice change. the actual model i will be getting is the cuetec 99190 i believe.

I gave up chalking my hands for a while, then bought a nice cue glove. Helps a LOT, even with a nice cue.

if your wooden cue doesnt slide well on your hand its time for a sanding.

If you like the feel and way it shoots, it's the stick for you. It's more a matter of feel to you than what others think. I personally don't care for cuetec. They are too stiff, I prefer the whippyness of my gambler. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
