Is it better to just throw it in a box or to stick it to the walls somehow..Is it safe to be rubbing on the subs? Also how do you know how much more volume your adding with polyfill and do you need to calculate that into the port length?

First, don't use polyfill in an attempt to "make a box larger", it does effect the subs response, just not in the linear make-box-appear-x-larger way that enclosure guides say.

Second, don't use polyfill in a ported enclosure unless it's just a thin layer attached to the walls, polyfill damps (reduces) resonance, and ported boxes rely on resonance to work...

Polyfill can improve the SQ of a ported enclosure that is built too small or ported too high, but pales in comparason to actually building it the correct size and tuning it properly in the first place.

In short, if you aren't building a sealed enclosure, don't concern yourself with polyfill.

with a ported box you may want to stick it to the sides so it wont fly out of the port. you will not need do factor the fill in to tuning, just add some untill you get the sound you like.

fiy, it wont make that big of a diffrence in a ported app.
