Could be good...could be bad. I dont have a real problem with the members joining recently. I have a problem with the members who have been here a short or medium amount of time that bash, flame, and not contribute to any real use here.
I'd be for it if the majority ruled that way.

I actually used to contribute..

We should have a Giant General Info Forum.. For guests only so they can basically ask and post a question with out signing up..

Something like this

Guest123 ask: Anyone know what the red + is on the back of my CD player?

Then regular forum members can answer..

Without guest having to join and do all that, they can just hit and run like most do..

You just have a lil layout on a submit page that says what you want your Temp handle to be, an insert question text box and {submit} button

That way they dont have to join..

besides whats the avg member post count 5?

Soon as most people get some info they never return here..

**** that's a good idea Expy.

I realize that it would need more discussion and thought, but my eventual hope is that we could perhaps cut down on the scamming. If no names cannot just come in here and post and instead have to spend a few weeks or so chilling around, maybe, JUST maybe, we could see a decline.

Would frotchlover have passed...because although she has showed her boooobs...she really hasnt related to car audio at alllll. THAT is true post whoring.
I couldn't give two shits about frotchlover, but you do realize that she most likely wouldn't have started whoring if she was put on hold for some time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

This would all also depend on the mods, not their willingness, but their ability. They have lives as well to be taken into consideration. If a mod or mods arent able to view/approve certain posts for any given amount of time does that poster sit in limbo?

Also prowler, on number two, would you think it be worthwhile that you spend a few weeks on lockdown just go go create chaos? I would just go and find a new forum. If you're serious about getting in and learning, then you should be serious afterwards.
Keep the ideas coming, I'm always up for a good collaborative argument. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
No, PV, I cannot see that someone would endure a set period of "lockdown" just to intentionally create chaos soon thereafter.
Beat has already posted my almost exact thoughts on it, however. It is the members who really aren't here to discuss car audio at all but rather have somewhere else on the interweb to socialize that concern me. Once they are here for awhile (some after a shorter duration than others) the majority of their postings are nothing but nonsense, bashing, flaming, etc etc.

Don't mistake my intent ~ I do see potential benefits from the system you are proposing. The unfortunate flipside to it is that no mechanism will completely eliminate those who care nothing for the overall integrity of what www.CarAudio.com should be about at the end of the day.

So - I'll leave it at this: I've been a member here long enough that implementing such a system won't directly affect me. I am happy enough with the current moderation team and their abilities to do what they are supposed to do (no, that doesn't mean I always agree with 100% of their actions just that I recognize that they are able to do their jobs properly) that if the forum at large along with the mods are happy to institute such a policy then I am happy to vote for it.

Word. We need more open opinions like yours prowler //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Keep the ideas coming. I also very much like Expy's idea, but eventually those people may want to become members. Take myself for example. I came in here, started a thread, got made fun of by Jmac, but now I have nearly 14000 posts. That system would work in conjunction with something else.

Ooh, that's a good point. How about this? We use expy's idea about the guest forum/mine about the initiation forum, but only in there do your posts have to be monitored? That way all the potentially stupid posts are in one area and that simplifies jobs greatly. I have nothing against those who just come here to relax (lounge wh0res), but when those people step outside and start spewing purposely incorrect info, that's where it gets bad.

I would have no problem with that, hell Id even be willing to facilitate some of it. If the mods needed help, Id be more than willing, but at the same time who can actually handle being judge, jury, executioner? I mean by whos standards do we live by? Some may approve certain posts, whereas other wouldnt. I think whoever is appointed the authority, would also have a huge weight on their shoulders.

Is this just applying to flagrant misuse of the forum or are some people going to get a "smarter than you attitude". I agree something needs to be done about the people who get on a thread and throughout the entire thread say nothing to help the thread starter at all but instead flame. This type of behavior comes from people with a lot of post as well as some newere members. But there are always going to be new guys or people whos opinions vary on topics. What criteria will be set before someone actually drops the hammer?

--- Guest Forum

--- Then a 15 day waiting period before they are given full membership.

That way they person can get their questions answered in the Guest Forum and if they want too they can have full member privies in 15 days. If they really are interested..

Trouble makers will always be here, I would know, ha haa.

However, at least with the trial period and guest forums we get to discourage a higher % of potential trouble makers.
