I think it's sad that we are having this conversation, but good of you to at least be honest with yourself about things deerhunt.

Just understand that there is a stereotype, and just like you'll find a lot of asians aren't smart, you'll also find that a lot of us don't fit the whole black stereotype, and if that is what really bothers you then at least give the guy a chance before you start wondering if you'll be able to be his roomate.

Someone had a good idea earlier and i think maybe you should apologize earlier about how sometimes the N word might slip out because that's just how you've always been but that you really don't mean anything by it and you'd like to let him know ahead of time so he won't be offended.

That's the biggest thing with white people saying the n word around me, I never can really know how they actually feel and if they are just joking when they say it or if they're secretly racist, while when a black guy says it, I know that he doesnt mean anything by it. That's why it's okay when black people say it around me but when white (or any non black) people say it around me I always have this question rollin around in my gut like wonderin if this person has already judged me and closed there mind to me before they even met me. That's more what the word means to me when non black people say it. I never can really trust people who use the word, especially when talking to me, I try to be a real laid back guy but sometimes that word can make my blood boil, like no matter how far we've come as a country there'll always be people who don't see me as an equal.
