Pole Vent Clearance...

How much clearance does a XXX need for its pole vent? I'm asking b/c I just purchased a XXX, and had a snailshell built for it. I think it only had 8 1/2" inside the box until the snail. The front of the enclosure is single baffle, btw...should i make it a double baffle? Any help is much appreciated.

bout an inch of space should be fine, yes I would double baffle

thanks...my builder did an excellent job on my enclosure, but i figured if it needed a double baffle it was something i could handle. What r the cons of not having enough clearance?

The subs voice coils may not have enough room for proper ventilation and could possibly fry.
