and 480 a year is not paltry. if i would have been paying that this whole time i have been here i would have payed close to a grand on storage. just unrealistic for almost everyone yet everyone needs the space.

Sorry if you cant see the benefits to this new system, be it for the vendors/manufacturers, OR the average members. This, however, does not mean those advantages do not exist.

No, everyone does not need storage space for 5000 pm's, or even 300. Im a moderator, and even I could live with the 150 PM limit. Again, even for the member who is active in doing transactions here but doesn't want to/cant pay the vendor fee (or 'lite' fee), they have options available to allow them to store their documentation virtually indefinitely off-site.

Again, a lot of members have been saying how they wish we would see a return of more of the professionals in the car audio industry, this new vendor system is a direct attempt to help make that happen. If a few members cant understand why they need to make a minor sacrifice like less PM storage space, well Im confident the majority of members will understand.

Goob cant please everyone. That's a big difference from he cant please anyone. Although I can see how one might make that leap in logic, since Goob doing nothing pissed people off, and now Goob making changes pisses people off. This vendor system, mod changes, rule changes, site GUI... all changes Goob has made in the past year or so to try and improve the site. Now that he's taking an active roll in the site, some people give him no credit for it and pigeon-hole every idea or change that comes down the pipe. I know some of you are just trolling this thread, but for the people who are genuinely concerned, at least give Goob credit for trying to make things better, even if you dont agree with everything he's done. As a businessman, keeping the majority of members happy is his main goal. I think some people lose sight of that in cases such as this.

I dunno....this just could have been handled better. Whats done is done. But Goob could have saved a headache if he would have maybe polled for ideas on the current situation.
And tbh, $240 a year for a membership is retarded. Look at some of the other forums and see what they are doing. What works for them.

People don't seem to be complaining about pm boxes and costs there.

I understand where you are coming from. I dont know what the value of a vendor membership is, that changes from one member and/or vendor to another. I do know that it must be treated like any other business decision, cost versus reward. If that rate is too high, Im sure it will become apparent to Goob via how many members purchase the feature. He has a similar cost versus reward business decision to make too. *shrug*

In all fairness, $480 is not paltry. I used a poor choice of wording. I dont mean to downplay the fee, it is what it is. Small to some, large to others.

Here's an idea...PURGE THE OLD ACCOUNTS. If PM space is at a premium, I know of a few thousand accounts that would free up 150 PM's each.

That's a good idea, but I dont know if its possible. Only the admin could do something like that.
