I just got a jl 500/1 amp and i was going down the street listening to music at a realativly mild lvl and my sub just stops making any kind of noise i put a volt meter to the rcas that plug into the amp and i show signal but i dont show any out of the amp to where the sub hooks up......it my amp screwed or am i just missing something? ..............i have warrenty so not that big of a deal if it is messed up just wont bump for 4-6 weeks -(

You check your fuse? Something else come loose? Check the impendence of the subs also with the meter.

the fuse was still good and i hooked it to 4 different subs and none got any power also the power light on the amp comes on it just dosent put out sound......i dont see how it would have just gone out all of the sudden esp at a low vol...

there are a few things that could have gone wrong. All depending how they wre installed.

sub wires could have touched causing a short inside the amp

the amp was not grounded properly and the internal fuze shorted, or the amp has a high voltage cut off. Check the amp for a master reset switch. My amp did this one time cause it was getting to much juice, rested it then worked fine.

well i know there is no way wires touched and its grounded good i think i drilled a hole into the bottom of my cab under the seat pulled back all carpet sanded it all around put a star washer on top and botom with a battery type terminal to hole the wire and bolted it down........what causes them to get to much power? i used 4 gauge wire like it said to in the amp instalation guide
