Plexiglass

Well I can say that you are going to need to take it to someone to get a proper etching done on it. I have never run into a consumer tool that will do a good job. Could be wrong. I am considering doing the same with a false floor,I was going to use a router and take out a notch about a half inch on every side of the opening, then lay the plexi glass on top, drill some screw holes, carpet everything with the carpet loose around where the glass will go in so that it will be caught under the plexglass, lay the glass back on and screw it in. I wish I could be of more help, but I have not been able to find any DIY on how to do this properly either.

One way is to cut a metal stencil and have someone bead blast the exposed plastic. My preference would be translucent paint like candy or pearl, seein as how I have that skill already.

I've seen artists do amazing things with a Dremmel on plexiglass, but that's waaay beyond my skill set.

iv cut some plexy at work before/cut a 2in hole through it for piping.i used duct tape on both sides, and drilled on high speed of course, and came out just fine,no cracks/no barbs/smooth cut..wonder if that would work with the taping, and using a dremel/rotozip??
