I hooked up a little system in my work truck and when I turn it up so loud my amp will go into protection mode and when I turn the volume down it comes back on. All of my wiring, fuse blocks and everything else is new. It's not the amp because my first amp did it so I bought a new one. I just have a little 300 watt bs amp hooked up to 12" kicker comp sub. What in the hell would cause this?

it should be wired at 4 ohm mono for the most power. If it is a dual four ohm coil you wont get the most out of your system and would need to wire it with one coil per channel and mono the input side.

The sub its self should tell you somewhere what each coil is. There is also a model number that would give you a hint. Go read the back of the subwoofer and I can get you a diagram on how to wire it once you get me that. I will be here for another 45 minutes, if you miss me, PM me to remind me of your thread.
