I listen to all types of music, but mostly rap and rock....I don't know whether to get 1 10" or 2 10" subs, or 1 12" or 2 12"...I had originally thought 10's would play rock better than 12", but I am afraid the 10's won't play rap well?...I am looking at the Boston Acoustics G5 sub, or the Infinity VQ?...What do you guys think about those subs, or any other subs you like for SQ...Thanks for your time and any input....I also plan on running a sealed box, and the Boston's say they need 450 watts rms, but in a smalled sealed box, should they need more? Thanks again...

Could you thoroughly answer my question about my amp situation please, I need some help with that, and you want more posts....Thanks

2 10's of the same sub in the same conditions will not have better sq in of 2 12"s. The 12's will just get louder. The VQ is a great choice for an SQ sub, but they are pvssies... cant handle power worth crap (or in my experience). Another great sub for about half the money is an Image dynamics IDQ. refurbs on sale now at cardomain.

edit: the IDQ's are one of the best sounding subs ive heard. They like small boxes and give them around 250-300wrms.

Could you please explain how 2 12" subs have the same SQ as 2 10" subs? Also, based on my preference of music, and of course the cost doubling, how many of what size subs would you reccomend? Are you saying not to get the Boston subs? Thanks again

oh man... theres this one write up saying the cone size does not affect the response. ill see if i can find it prolly tomorrow, or squeak will chime in.

but for a daily driver, 2 10"s or maybe a single 12" will be good for you. OH no im not saying anything against the boston, never heard it. Im just reccomending what ive heard.

Thank you for the link...It says "inductance" is the key...what is that? What spec is that listed on a subwoofer spec sheet? Thanks again...If you could, please refer to the amp section and answer my question there, that would be awesome...Thanks

Le "This is the voice coil inductance measured in millihenries (mH). The industry standard is to measure inductance at 1,000 Hz. As frequencies get higher there will be a rise in impedance above Re. This is because the voice coil is acting as an inductor. Consequently, the impedance of a speaker is not a fixed resistance, but can be represented as a curve that changes as the input frequency changes. Maximum impedance (Zmax) occurs at Fs. "
blah.
