Guys, it's been a looooong time since I've bought speakers. The speakers I've owned in the past have been Infinity Reference and Eclipse. I liked them both but want to go higher quality this time.

I need 6.5" component speakers for the front and 4x6" speakers for the rear. I plan to power them with my Kicker 50x4 amp. My budget is $225 for the front set and $125 for the rear. I've been looking on http://www.onlinecarstereo.com because they seem to be the cheapest.

I was looking at the Infinity Perfect 6.1 Kappa 6.5" and Infinity Kappa 4x6" 462.5cfp, what do you think? The reason I like these is because the 4x6's are plates, with the round woofer. I've always heard that round woofers outperform oval. I may be wrong, but that's just what I've heard.

I was also looking at MB Quart, Rockford Fosgate, Kenwood Excelon & JL Audio. Back in my day MB Quart was about the best you could get, things may have changed since then... nowadays I'm just not sure what's good.

Thanks SO MUCH for the help!!

Cory

Just a suggestion but what i would do with that amp is bridge it to two channels (100x2) and just run the front components off of it. Run the 4x6s off the HU.

Im not a big fan of infinity components, just lack midbass IMO. Look into Diamond audio or CDT for some good components. If i were you i wouldnt even bother with the rear 4x6s and just put all your money towards a good set of front components. Just my Prefrence though.

Well I've been searching the posts here and have found a pretty decent list of good 6.5" component sets. This is what I found was recommended to another guy (*All prices are from http://www.onlinecarstereo.com):

Orion P6.2, $169

Kicker RS6c, $199

Diamond Audio M661, $229

Alpine SPX-F17M, $239

JL Audio XR650-CSi, $255

Now I thought what "packerfan" suggested was a good idea, to bridge the amp and give the components 100w each and let the headunit power my 4x6's. So that's what I'm gonna do. Honestly, if the brand I chose does not make a 4x6, I'll just pop in a 4" coaxial from the same manufacturer.

Now what I am looking for is crisp, clear highs without being ear piercing. As far as mid-bass I am looking for good, tight, nice mid-bass. I listen to a little bit of everything, Rap, R&B, Country, Pop, Rock.

What do you guys think is the best out of the above list? Or would you even recommend something additional? I was also looking at MB Quart. I think the most I want to spend on a component set is around $250.

Thanks for your help, in advance.

do as packer said...look into the infinity reference plates..there like 45 at ikesound and or ebay.sound good for the money..then put the remainder into the comps.

p.s.what do you drive?

Infinity Perfect's tweeters are WAY too bright. I had em before and swapped em out for the BA 3-ways (still bright but not as much) that I got. You may want to look into Polk/MOMO components and 4x6 plates (have seperate round woofer and tweet with passive crossover), more midbass and smoother highs.

I drive a 2001 Chevy Silverado Z71 Extended-Cab. I did a little more research and shuffled my whole install a little bit (trimmed here and there) and I am now thinking about the following:

(Front) Focal 165K 6.5" Component, $319.00

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=11708

(Rear) Focal 100CA 4" 2-way speakers, $109.00

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=12633

$428.00 Total

OR

(Front) Diamond Audio S600s 6" Component, $329.00

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=11755

(Rear) Diamond Audio M341I 4.5" speakers, $89.00

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=12434

$418.00 Total

What do you guys think? Of course I'd have 100watts going to each of the component set and the rears powered by the headunit. Thanks for all of your help so far!!

This is a little off-topic but I'm compelled to post cuz I thought it was funny. I was at circuit city today to have them drill some holes in my door panels so I could install my CDT tweets. When they saw my speaks they were like "wtf are those?" (cuz the last time I was there I had infinitys all around) and I was like those are cdt's and a couple of them murmured and one of them was like "yea those things are the ish." One particular newb that just got hired there was like "but aren't infinty's our best speaker?" i wanted to laugh. anyway, a bunch of the installers listened, liked what they heard, and the manager and a couple assistant managers gave me their emails cuz they wanted djdilliodon's email (made that n!gga referrals! haha) anyway yea what's my point i don't know

hes right most amps will double once power is combined, hey guy how about some koda components?might be a little more but it will be well worth it, insted of spending 125 on rears, buy some alright speakers of ebay , maybe even used, and really work on that front stage.
