please help w/ L7 box

i'm trying to build a box for my 12" L7 but need someone to help with the plans.

from what i've read on here i guess i'm shooting for around 3 cubes tuned to 34hertz. but thats just a guess. its for a daily listener. i listen to a little bit of everything from rap to rock. its being powered by a alpine pdx 1000.1.

i have 18.5" depth, 36" wide, and 18.5" tall to play with. its going in the back of a 97 vw golf hatch. i remember reading on here thats its best to have the sub firing up with the port to the back is that true?

That firing position could work best, but I couldn't tell you for sure. I've never messed with a car like yours. I would personally do 2.5 cubes.
