I'm new to the forum, been lurking for a while, this is my first post. Thanks in advance for any help!

My system is randomly popping/cracking, then the sound cuts out, then it will pop/crackle and come back on.

Setup: Headunit, 1 amp, 3 speakers. RCAs goto amp. 4-channel amp powers front doors with front channels, rear channels are bridged to power 10" sub.

Alpine 9811 HU

Kicker 800.4 amp

Image dynamics IDQ10

Focal component fronts

The system has been in for over one year. Recently this random cutting out has been occuring. I say random because it can happen with the car sitting still not running as well as on the road. Sometimes I can drive for a whole week with no problem, but it does seem to be getting more frequent.

What I've done so far:

Triple checked the entire install.

Checked all grounds, then ran new ground to HU anyway since I new that's the first advice I would get //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Amp ground is SOLID.

Replaced RCA cables with new.

After the above checks, the problem still occurs. So today I tried taking the amp out of the equation. I ran the HU speaker outs to the front doors. This produces no sound! No popping, no static, nothing. I checked the resistance across the speakers, they are okay. I don't have a spare HU, so I powered the speakers with a home unit and they play fine.

What's my next step? I'm near the end of my rope!

Thanks again,

Dan

Check your amplifier. It may be a cold solder on the board or a short circuit that gives trouble when the amplifier heat's up hence it cuts off and comes back on.

dose it happan as all volumes or only high volumes grounds and stuff might be good but if it is going in and out at high volumes make sure that fuses are good to if there is any bubling on the fuses replace them. Heck might not be to bad to try even if they look good if it is at low volumes too your guess is as good as mine might be a cold saulder or could be that when the v/c heats up on a sub it runs amp to low. try taking the subs off the amp and see what it dose or just hooking one up or something.

IF nothing played when you hooked it to the deck it means your grounding a speaker out decks are set up so if one speaker grounds out they all do

So, you attempted to play the speakers from the head unit, and nothing happened? I know you said you checked all of your install, but did you check the wiring for the door speakers? Might just run some from the back of the deck with the speakers pulled, to eliminate that as a problem.
