Please help me pick out a new system

I'd recommend Focal Polyglass 165VR's for the front stage. Great sounding set of components. I ran mine active on my Elemental Designs Nine.4, wish I still had them.

As far as everything else goes, everybody else has it right. Dayton HO/HF Subs, AudioQue 1200 Sub amp and an Alpine 9813.

Thanks, yea, should have never gotten rid of the 9813. I'm looking at a 9835 right now. i'm pretyt set on the hu and amps. not so sure about the subs and comps tho. ****, now i have to get some custom enclosure. gonna be a pain in the *** i can already see it

Just about anything from Alpine will be pricey. I'd look for an older used HU, specifically... your old 9813. That thing is a GEM! There's very few headunits available anymore that are even worth purchasing. They have the flashy features, but nothing to actually get good sound. There's only a couple units from each manufacturer that are worth considering. I wasn't impressed in the least with my Alpine speakers so I certainly couldn't recommend them. Maybe their Type X components are top-notch, but I'll strongly doubt they are worth the money. Again, their PDX amps are pretty pricey, and I've heard they're terribly inefficient, I'm not sure why he's listing a full Alpine system. As for bridging your amplifier, it's incredibly unlikely you'll detect any additional distortion in the least.

Thanks, I'm going with the dayton ho's. I'm looking at a RF 1500.1, a sundown 1200 or maybe the audioque probably. The focals are like 600 bucks, jesus. Anything decent for like 300 out there? I paid 150.00 for my crystall sscs6 comps and they were all i ever wanted in a front comp set.

You should be fine with the 165VB's, those were good too, just not as good when ran active.

Look into HAT Imagines for comps, The Dayton HO subs are perfect IMO, Amps is really up to you but out of the ones you listed above Sundown is the best choice I just dont like to run it, and for a deck the older Alpines are great... May sell on of my 9855's actually... For wiring go with KNU...

Thanks for the suggestions. On the PDX-F4 with the SPX-17PRO, should it be bridged @ 4 ohms ? Does that increase distortion, bridging it?The amps and comps do seem a bit pricey for what they put out though...

Don't believe distortion increases, it has distortion rating of .03 so im going to say that you prob wont hear it until it's to late anyhow.

those are expensive

Alpine SPS-610C (SPS610C)6.5" 2-Way Type-S Component Car Speakers

Alpine PDX-M12 Class D Monoblock Car Power Amplifier

Alpine SWR-1043D (SWR1043D) 10" Dual 4 ohm Type-R Car Subwoofer

cheaper Alpine MRP-F300 300W RMS, 4-Channel Amplifier - Sonic Electronix

I'm looking for:
1. Head unit(I like alpine) - Budget of 250.00 Alpine 9887, used of course

2. Awesome front components - Budget of 250.00 Boston Acoustics Pro60 SE used

3. Amp for the components - Budget of 300.00 MB Quart DSC4125 or similar for new...or their Q series, used

4. Two 10 inch subs that will work well in a small enclosure, take 5 - 600 watts rms nicely each, going in a Corvette hatch. Flexible budget depending on quality - the most common forum boners have already been offered...Dayton HO's, SA, Skar VVX

5. Sub amp that can put out about 1000 - 1200 clean watts rms. budget of 350.00 - Sundown SAZ-1500d for new...maybe a Lanzar OPTI2000...Used, even lower than your budget, there are several nice old skool options in Sony, Eclipse, etc.

Total budget of like 1500 - 1800 not including installation and wiring.
Sound dampening...?

Yea, I'd look into CDT Audio for some component speakers. They got a good range of products, and mylows10 is a dealer for them so he can order whatever you need. What head unit did you end up going with? Hopefully you found a 9813? Or maybe even a 7998?! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
