For those of you that hate JL , you dont have to respond and tell me to get another brand. I like JL from hearing them but thanks anyways for the opinions. I have a choice of getting...

2 10 w7's , 2 13 w6v2's, or I can go out and be totally broke and get 4 8" w7's or 2 12" w7s, but Id perfer to stick with the first two options... Assuming I dont want to be broke, I have never heard the w6v2's. I know they are a SQ sub but will I get any SPL out of the 13.5 w6v2's. Which ever subs I get I plan on having them in a ported box by JL specifications. Also I will be running 2 500/1 JL Amps to each subs. Which would I get more decibles out of between the 10's or 13.5's.

I think that the 12" w7's would be underpowered by the 500/1 although i never heard them with 500/1's. So if u have heard the 12's with 500 watts rms to them tell me how they sound.

Also anyone who has w6v2's in ported enclosures let me know how loud they are.

Thanks for all the help.

Warren aka limitkid7 would be able to help you ... having both a W7 and W6v2's.

If the option of twin 10W7's is there, that's probably what I would go with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

id agree with ss3079. However, how much SPL are you looking to get. You could easily get one JL 13W7 and hook up a 1000/1 instead of 2 10W7's and 2 500/1 and prob be just as happy. the W7 is superior in SQ and pretty **** loud. If you want to go deaf, id go for two tens, if not, Id say one 13W7 would be great. Im sure either way youll be happy, but why not stick with the W7 since the W6 is soon to be discontinued

Well the problem with getting the 13" w7 is that I would have to get an 1000/1 and I already have the 2 500/1 amps cause i used to have 2 12" L7's which i am trading in to upgrade to JL Audio Subs. I want what is louder between the 10" w7s and the 13" w6v2s because both have good SQ, I know they do, they are real close with SQ from the research I have done. I just want a good thump when I feel like turning it up. I mean maybe I should wait a month and get 2 12" w7's but i need to know how they sound with the JL 500/1's on them in a ported box.

in regards to what u said about underpowering the 12w7's with a 500/1 on each...from my experience id have to say they will still BANG!...my first set up was a single 1000/1 and 2 12w7's...now i have 2 1000/1's and i dont notice much difference at all...just a few db...like 3-5 depending...if u want the most out of the subs put them in a big ported box and in my opinion u wont be disapointed at all...

if im not mistakin, i believe the 13w6v2 runs 500w RMS...soo throw up two of them and run one of ur 500/1's to each...that would be a tight system

Good Luck Bud

g35 sedan will be the car I am putting the stuff in. I had an explorer and it was nice to have the subs actually in the car. I am scared with the trunk I wont hear the thump as much, although before I had 2 12" L7's in a big ported box and I am getting the JL's purposely to be cleaner and hopefully louder, which I dont know if that will necessarily be true. But thanks for the advice on the 12's with the 500/1's. Also you are right, the 13w6v2's do run 500 rms, its just that I dont know if they will hit hard. The magnets on them are half the size of w7's (looks like it in pictures) and I never heard them. I would love to hear from someone who has them or who has heard the w6v2's, any model, especially in a ported box. I think it will come down to getting the 13w6v2's or saving for the 12" w7's.

look when i had a single 1000/1 running both 12's it was really loud...and knowing what i kno now i wouldnt of forked over another $900 too add 3-5 db...its really not that noiticeable...not $900 noticeable...but hey im happy..and i kno the chart says 500w is not enough...but it is...TRUST ME...i sooo kno....

Hey Farbs93...we both live in FL...u ever come to Orlando..id make a trip to show u my setup..but im on probation...soo i cant leave my county without a good reason...if u ever come somewhere near Orlando...ill show u what ur missing...

u shoiuld be able to fold down the seats. I wouldnt worry about them being sealed off in the trunk. Ur subs are going to be in a smaller cabin vs the explorer where the subs are farher away from u. So the SPL mite actually be better. Either way ull be more than happy with whatever setup u get.

jesse, I know the JL Audio rms chart by heart. The 12w7's request 750 rms. JL makes a 500 and 1000 watts rms amp and 750 is in between, so 500 is not severly underpowering. I think in a big ported box they would sound good with the 500's. Maybe in a small sealed box they would suffer from the 500/1's. Also I dont need to save money for the 10" w7's, in fact 2 13.5w6v2 cost more then the 10" w7's and I have the money for either. I need another 350$ to get the 12's and i think it might be worth it.

I just want to know if anyone has heard any w6v2 model in a ported box? Are W7's much louder? Especially comparing 2 10" w7's to the 2 13.5w6v2. I know the 12" w7's will be the loudest, but I just want to know if the 13.5w6v2 will still hit hard and comparable to 2 10" w7's.

if you had 2 L7s properly installed in a huge ported box like you said above, i do not believe the dual 10 w7 setup would be as loud spl wise

edit* why are you going to port the w7, wouldnt you want the sq that they would provide? in that case why would you get a w7 if you didnt want it for the sq
