Please help?! Car cassette deck...

Hello,

I've got a '98 Toyota 4Runner with a factory cassette deck that I use to play my iPod with the cassette adapter. Anyway, the cassette player will no longer play when I insert the adapter. It just reverts to the radio. I bought a new adapter thinking that was the problem...but it wasn't. I also inserted a standard cassette tape and it won't play that either. I tried cleaning the head with a Q-tip and alcohol, (I don't think I did a very good job, cause I couldn't see/reach in there too well) but again...nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?? Thanks in advance.
