Well i been doing alot of searchignand researching and with my budget i decided to go with the Kicker Comp VRs. The exact model is the Kicker Comp VRs which come already in the ported box from Kicker(you can find them at Circuit City). Thanks to an early response to a thread i found that because i have the DVC 4 ohm subs which are wired to a single 4 ohm load at the terminal cup and that i need a 1 ohm stable amp. My questions is these are rated at 600wrms/1200wrms as a pair in the box. What budget amp can i find for about $150-200(off ebay or such) that will push these hard but not over or underpower them. I was looking at either a hifonics or power acoustik but have been kinda turned off from posts. Basically want a amp that will run them reliabily and hard. Bring on the suggestions

If its wired for a 4ohm load you need an amp that puts out the power you want at 4 ohm. Not to say you can't rewire it to 1ohm.

I would choose poweracoustic over hifonics. For 1200wrms you should look around the forum for deals. I think there are a couple fo Viper 1200.1s around that make that at 1 ohm. They go for $200 or less sometimes.

Would wiring to one ohm be a problem. I thought you could wire 2 dvc 4 ohms to make a 1 ohm load. If i do this with a hifonics tx1500 do you think i would have a loud, decent sounding, RELIABLE setup. Thanks for the super quick replys

I think a BX1500d would kill those subs. At 4 ohm, it wouldn't be enough power, and at 1 ohm it would be easily double+ the sub's rms. I had a Hifonics NX750d wired up to a pair of 12'' CVRs ported and it was just about right.

Really love my Concept amp. It'll do 600w @ 4 ohms. Was about the same price as the Brutus.

first a hifonics would not kill those subs. underpowering does not blow subs. those subs are rated at 600 watts rms then the hifonics will do 1300-1400 watts rms so you are not overpowering them. what will kill the subs is clipping. read the gain tutorial. as for the hifonics being reliable, no. they don't like running at 1 ohm. as mentioned before, look into a viper D1200.1

Thannks guys well im sorta stuck with my Kicker KX 600.1 amp now(which is ok its still a good amp. And i just ordered 2 12" Comp Vrs in the 2ohm version. So all is looking well. Im very box ignorant and dont know what to get. I dont have the time/skill to make my own and need to buy one. I want to go with a ported box. Can anyone suggest a good box for me. It will be going in a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix. I want loud but decent sond quality as well. Does Cir cuit City have any good ones or Q-Logic. Please Help. Thanks

do yourself a favor and don't buy prefab. if you are gonna go prefab then just forget about upgrading your equipment. there are some people who can build a box for you on this forum.

Owned a BX1000d and a BX1500d. Both ran @ 1ohms. Both still kicking with their new owners.

WOW that sucks hmmm...yea i wanted the hifonics but im stuck with the kicker. Which should still be plenty for the Comp Vrs so ive been told. Anyone interested in making a ported box for me? If not any suggestions on a prefabbed(even though they apparantly are no good:-(

Just picked up a Concept CC-D1200. 1200WRMS x 1 @ 1ohm. I'm going to be hooking it up tomorrow with a couple Type-R 12"s. Can't wait! I'll be replacing a Kenwood 7202 (460WRMS x 1 @ 4 ohms) pushing two RF P2 12"s (8ohm - one 4ohm load).
