Hi,

Ive posted this question everywhere many many times and have not got what I feel is a professional answer so I was wondering maybe if I asked inthis forum to audio enthusiasts and specialists I might just get the answer Im looking for so here goes:

I have a '95 Dodge Neon and recently purchased 3 10" MTX thunder 6000's 250 RMS, 500 total each 4 ohms. I was looking for an amp that could handle my subs as well as my car handling the amps power. Also, on top of that since I am new to the car audio scene...I was wondering what all of the accessories are needed to have this setup running. The speakers in my car are stock, the cd player is a Kenwood 50x4.

-------------------------------------------------------

I have gotten these responses:

**well since you have thunder series subs u should go with the MTX thunder series amp. go to ebay and search MTX brand under amplifiers...to push those your gonna need a 1500watt amp since those subs are 500rms each.. this amp right here should do the trick and its pushing 1500watts at 1ohm which is awesome for you cuz you will have it hooked up to where its 1/2ohm which will have it.

**First, that is a lot of power for a dodge neon.

You may want to consider getting a newer car battery, possibly consider going one range higher than stock. You will have a lot of strain on your alternator. Since your neon is 12 years old, you may need to purchase an new alternator at some point.

Do a "big 3 upgrade" on your wires. (see source)

Do not use amplifier capacitors, they are just "band-aids" to the problem of dimming headlights and such.

Visonik makes good amplifiers. You should use Sosche wiring accessories. Consider replacing your stock speakers in the car as well. Infinity Kappas are nice.

As for "bang for the buck"... You get what you pay for. There are no real shortcuts.

Jpark,, even a brand new 0 miles Chrysler 300 can benefit from a Big 3 upgrade. A 12 year old economy car would benefit drastically.

and

**For 3 of these subs, you're looking at 750w RMS. Pending on which you have (4ohm, 8ohm, or 12ohm) you can wire them all together and get an amp that plays roughly 750w RMS at the ohms presented. You'll want to buy an typical amp kit (go for 4ga power wire and 16ga speaker wires) or you can buy everything separate (power wire, fuse holder + fuse, speaker wire, etc). You'll want to upgrade your speakers too, it will sound much better overall inside your car.

If you wanted to go for the best bang for your buck, you should of bought Alpine Type-R subs. Let nobody say otherwise, they ARE the best bang for your buck. Let me know if you have trouble.

Unless something in your electrical system is faulty, theres no reason to upgrade "the big 3" in regards to your electrical system. (theres no big 3 in wiring...) You're only pushing 750w RMS, not enough to create too large a current draw that a healthy alt won't be in control over.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Josh

just any answer would be fine instead of an arrogant response. my message was asking for help and any response otherwise is not necessarily needed. are you this arrogant to everyone thats looking for assistance? here to harras people?

Leave your comments out of it if you can respond respectfully and with a legitimate response and I wont be so crude next time.

you guys are so **** rude to everyone. it's no wonder this forum isn't any bigger. in every post that someone who isn't as well educated as you, you guys yell newb, stfu, search, and ban. i agree about the searching part but the rest come off your high horse already. pahlease. it's pathedic. and i would have called you an ******* too. anyone would have. now instead of being rude and childish i will try and answer his question.

1st you can power them different ways...either 1 amp or 3 amps. 1 amp will be cheaper after all is said and done and alot easier as you will not have tons of wires running all over the place...

if you wire it like this... http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard/3_4ohmSVC_134ohm.gif

you end up with 1.34ohms load at the amp which is fine.

then you need to pick a nice class D that will work for you and throw out a bit over 750 @ 1...

maybe this amp?

then you should buy a 2 guage wiring kit off ebay or somewhere else... then buy an extra 10 feet of welding cable and all the connectors fuses etc. to do your big 3 with(yes it really is worth it..just as good as adding a yellow top imo...)

and if you are running that much power a nice yellowtop would finish off the system well. if you feel like it you could throw your old one in the trunk and use an isolator...

best of luck let us know what you do and show us some pictures!

oh and for a professional answer talk to a professional. while alot of people online here might know a thing or two i would trust someone with 20 yrs in the car audio field or hell even a EE/ME before some random person online who has nekkid chicks as his avatar(not picking on anyone just saying)

oh and do you have a box already made or are you doing it yourself?
