Please don't ban me... I've got a type-r question....

Ok, first and foremost, this setup wouldn't REPLACE my type-x's or my L7's, i'm just thinking... always thinking....

if i took the enclosure i have my type-x 12's in:

12" 2.0cf net 30hz each

and dropped in type-r's what would i lose/gain?

How much SPL would i gain/lose?

How much quality would i gain/lose?

How much of my lows would i gain/lose?

I haven't had much luck getting my l7's to sound like i want, after two boxes, weeks of tuning, a new kinetik battery, new alternator, second battery, 0 gauge rewire, big 3... ughh, i just don't think they're gonna do it for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

playing with the idea of selling the l7's with the current box locally, and getting a set of type-r's, and using the same box, and simply swapping out the x's and r's for SQL/SPL whenever i wanna change it up....

How would type-r's sound in that box? Somebody with that similar setup? Would it get loud? Would it sound decent? Would it follow through to 70/80 hz?

And i realize the box is a tad small for r's, but they'd be getting 1000rms a piece, so it would even out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What size and year is your L7 ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

What amp are you pushing that L7 with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

I would never in this lifetime change an L7 for a type R //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

totally different application, tho

the l7's are 15's, i was trying to get more low output than my type-x's, wasn't looking for SPL

they're wired to 1 ohm, and being pushed by a bxi2006d, gain set properly to just barely clip at full tilt, and my electrical's WAY more than enough at this point

i don't know what to do, i've lost my way, it seems

oh ya, l7's are 06's

4.5cf net each tuned @ 33hz

the x's honestly still wail on them on the lows

what i SHOULD do, is make some kicks for my components, and try and get my comps to blend with the x's, but i was just being curious

i've improved my midbass somewhat, but i'm still not getting much output below 70hz without rattles

I personally wouldn't know hot the type r's would do in the SQ department //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

But for spl L7's is the way to go //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok, how bout keep the x's, and rather than type-r's, get a pair of 12" l7's instead of the 15's for SPL???

eh? eh?

3.0 each @ 36-38hz?

i originally had the l7's in a 42hz 4.5cf each box to try and get spl out of them, and they don't like those higher spl oriented freq's worth a darn, and then i tuned them low to try and outdo the x's in the lows dept. no dice either way....

they sound ok, and they're loud, but type-x's sound better and get lower, and the 15" l7's are still far from spl compared to the 12's
