Planning the box :)

I'm building a half-wall. I have the dimensions of roughly 52" x 36" x 18". I used the re box calculator to create a rough ported box. I will probably be for 8 1510's (or some setup very similar). So I need anywhere from 10-12 cubic feet. I got it tuned to 40.009 hertz. But I understand that this is somewhat a lazy way of designing a box. Should I get a web design from someone like PWK? Or just simply go with a ported box?
