Greetings everyone.. Im new here and to planning a car audio system, so please go easy on me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

THE CANVAS: 2006 Mustang GT

BUDGET: $1200 for speakers and amp(s) (head unit being bought separately)

AUDIO APPLICATION: listening to Sirius radio, listening to classical, classical/acoustic blues, all flavors of metal and rock, and even some rap. I prefer mind-blowing audio clarity over eardrum-blowing volume.

OTHER INFO:

The car has room for 6x8s in the front/rear and an 8" sub in each door. I want to keep this setup and not use a speaker box. I will be purchasing a Kenwood XXV-01d head unit. My first choice on speakers is the Infinity Kappa 682.7cf's (altho, Im open for suggestion in an effort to lower cost)

QUESTIONS

--------------------------------

1. Speakers.. any recommendations on an affordable 8" sub?

2. Amps.. Any recommendations on a setup for this? im completely clueless when it comes to this. My initial thought was 2, 2 channel amps for the 6x8s... does that mean Id need a monochannel amp for the subs? Im such a noob //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

3. Is there any disadvantage on just having the headunit and 6x8 speakers upgraded and waiting til later (6months or so) to have amps and subs installed?

Will doing that ruin any of the upgraded hardware?

I think thats it... thanks in advance for your help.

excelent choice on hu, im a kenwood guy myself. but 6x8's are harder to find most of the time so u do know that u can put 5x7's in the same holes and just use the brackets that come with them. but if you are wanting to get 6x8's i would say stick with kenwood excelons. they are a good set for the money. i had two sets of 6x8's in my old escape hooked up to a 800 watt excelon amp and was nice sounding. have u tried thinking of the kenwood woox sub. i havent used it but have heard its pretty decent and would save space and weight or that kinda car.

Welcome to the forum //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Looks like you have the ingredents to have a awesome sound system. First of all u have a beautiful car to work with. Next the 25th ann. excelon is a sweetie. I have a excelon unit and I love mine, but that one is even better. Good choice! I assume those kappa's you mentioned are for the fronts? I also run kappa's in my front doors got them just for the highs and they sound amazing. Just remember to high pass them corectly from the head unit. If you can, I would try to put 6x9 s in for you other speakers, that way it will give you more options. As far as your subs, I don't have alot of experience with 8' but I did listen to some 8' Boston's last week and they sounded really sweet. Could take a look at some 8' inch polk audio's too. Best of luck to you. There are alot of people with more knowledge than myself in these forums in this area so be patient. You should end up with a awesome sq system you'll love and be proud of. Best of luck to you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
