I made a quick diagram of how i plan to layout the wiring....let me know whats good..whats not...and what will melt...haha

also if i put the 80a fuses (if even needed that much) in the distro block...do i still need to fuse it at the battery and if so what would be the minimum amperage....also should i fuse the alt to battery connection within 10inches of the battery with how much amperage fuse?

don't put the cap before the distro block, put it right before the sub amp as that is what is going to need it, and put it as close as possible, The further away it is the less effective it becomes. I also would ditch the ground block and just ground everything at one point.

YES YOU NEED A FUSE AT THE BATTERY, the battery fuse is to protect the car and the wire, not the amp. I wouldn't fuse the alt to bat.

Also if you are considering two 80amp fused amps, you may want a larger gauge wire going back, then 4 gauge going out of the distro blocks.

thanks star.....to clear up i read when doing the big 3 that you should fuse the line between the alt and battery connection.....

any other input on wire size and/or location of items, fuse amperage, pros/cons to this setup?

x2 on that

And also, that 80 amp fuse on the distro block to the frontstage amp is too large. The largest fuse you should have protecting 8 gauge wire is 50 amps. Otherwise the insulation on the wire could melt and you could start a fire before the fuse blows.

always use the same size wire for ground and positive, or else your just wasting wire, remember dc power is a closed circuit, it needs just as much ground as it does positive

btw i never fuse alt to batt

you run the risk of a bad connection.

Not saying it will happen, but that it could, and when I do stuff, I do it so that there are no risks involved.

water could easily find its way into your distro block and cause corrosion. A wire could shake itself loose, if the distro is of cheap make, you may be adding resistance to the ground circuit.

The BEST way to do it is choose a central grounding point as close to everything as possible and ground at one LARGE point, thus why I aslo suggest not using anything but a 3/8" bolt with star washers mounting into a drilled hole of the frame, then cover the outside portion in silicon, and the inside portion in dielectric grease and then cover it up.
