If the OP is going to be working for a Domino's then the pizzas will be in bags - he won't have a choice. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gifNon tippers.....good way to have your delivery " screwed up" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gifThe smell sint hard to get out, just put some air fresheners in and put the pizza in bags
I tip waiters and waitresses very well. If the service is good, there's no harm in tipping over 20%, and I'll gladly do it, and usually do. If the service is shitty, the tip is shitty. So I think that is always deserving of a couple bucks. Also do you tip your waitress? The two jobs are very similar.

The two jobs, delivery driver, and waiter, are not similar in my eyes at all. A waiter takes care of you during your meal. They make sure the food is done right, that you've always got a full glass, and that your experience at the restaurant is a good one. They provide a friendly environment, and a friendly face to share a conversation with.
A waiter that brings your food out, and forgets about you, is what most would consider a shitty waiter. And that is precisely what a delivery driver does...brings your food to you, leaves, does nothing else. Now, don't get me wrong, that what his job is...but, there inlies the difference. And that is exactly why waiters get paid ~$2.50 an hour while drivers get at least minimum wage. Waiters earn a tip by doing their job well...a delivery driver has no way to excell at their job, and therfore should not be rewarded for simply doing what's expected, and necessary to keep their job.
Point being? That's their job, and they're not doing any of that exceptionally...and you as a customer don't even know if you've got the right order when you're forced to make a decision to tip.the driver also helps on the phone and walk ins, taking orders(customer service) helps make the pizza, delivers the pizza fighting traffic can get in an accedent at any time. preps the food, washes the baking deep dish pots and screens, mops, cleans, carrys a bag of cash that robbers know they carry.thats just some things i could think of off the top of my head
x2personally i tip for
haircuts, food delivery's and restrants.
You bring me my food in the rain/snow whatever it may be and then care if you get tipped or not...driver don't get paid a whole lot and depend on tips...just like waitor. Do you need to tip then 10 bucks like you may some waitors? hell no. If you don't tip the drivers.... pretty foked up if ya ask me.I tip waiters and waitresses very well. I agree with the right car...you can make a decent amount...when you're putting that many miles on a car, MPG isnt the whole important thing though.I worked for Domino's off and on for years. You get paid minimum wage (or just over it) then you get paid X amount of money (specific amounts differ store to store, franchise by franchise) per delivery and tips. If you take multiple orders out the door at once then you get the run money for each delivery - not just each physical trip out of the store.
If you have something fairly economical fuel-wise then you can easily make it worth your while as it is a no-brainer job and you can make up to $14-$15/hour after you factor in your run money and tips. If you work for a pizza joint that services primarily a crappy part of town this can be decidedly less, mind you...
