If the OP is going to be working for a Domino's then the pizzas will be in bags - he won't have a choice. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

The town i live in is fairly wealthy. There are alot of uperclass communities being built right now, so there are alot of rich people here. As for a car, i drive a grand prix like previously stated and it gets decent gas mileage. Thanks for all the replys, i have no idea if i am going to apply or not, it sucks only being able to work 2/3 days a week and some weekends:crap:...kinda limits the job options

So I think that is always deserving of a couple bucks. Also do you tip your waitress? The two jobs are very similar.
I tip waiters and waitresses very well. If the service is good, there's no harm in tipping over 20%, and I'll gladly do it, and usually do. If the service is shitty, the tip is shitty.

The two jobs, delivery driver, and waiter, are not similar in my eyes at all. A waiter takes care of you during your meal. They make sure the food is done right, that you've always got a full glass, and that your experience at the restaurant is a good one. They provide a friendly environment, and a friendly face to share a conversation with.

A waiter that brings your food out, and forgets about you, is what most would consider a shitty waiter. And that is precisely what a delivery driver does...brings your food to you, leaves, does nothing else. Now, don't get me wrong, that what his job is...but, there inlies the difference. And that is exactly why waiters get paid ~$2.50 an hour while drivers get at least minimum wage. Waiters earn a tip by doing their job well...a delivery driver has no way to excell at their job, and therfore should not be rewarded for simply doing what's expected, and necessary to keep their job.

the driver also helps on the phone and walk ins, taking orders(customer service) helps make the pizza, delivers the pizza fighting traffic can get in an accedent at any time. preps the food, washes the baking deep dish pots and screens, mops, cleans, carrys a bag of cash that robbers know they carry.

thats just some things i could think of off the top of my head.

ps. rich area's are the worst tippers, low income to middleclass ftw.

Point being? That's their job, and they're not doing any of that exceptionally...and you as a customer don't even know if you've got the right order when you're forced to make a decision to tip.

Your argument is like this. A lifeguard at the YMCA opens the pool, cleans the deck, puts in the lanes, takes them out during family times, answers questions about the facility, and oh yeah...protects and saves people. Why don't you tip the lifeguard? It's their job, and you expect all of those things to be taken care of.

When I order a pizza, I expect the order to be taken, cooked in clean pans (health regulations?), and delivered. I don't expect the delivery boy to wait around at my place, make sure I like the pizza, and exchange it if I don't. I don't expect him to drive like an idiot and get into an accident (there are hazards at ANY job), etc. Come up with a valid argument that doesn't say "he does his job, he needs a pat on the back," and I'll listen.

P.S. around here delivery drivers get ~$3 over minimum wage, gas paid for...umm, yeah, sorry, there are jobs that require a lot more work and don't get paid that. No tip man, they don't do a damn thing better than they're expected to to keep their job.

swim, the point was the driver works just as hard as the waiter.

sounds like your making excuses not to tip but you can do

whatever you want i dont care. drivers dont expect a tip

if we get a $1 thats cool, it adds up. personally i tip for

haircuts, food delivery's and restrants.

the 30 minit rule wont be brought back becuse of a dominos

lawsuit from back in early 90's

swim stop being a ******* and tip people, i remember once when i ordered 20 dollers worth of pizza, and i felt like being nice that night and gave the guy a 10 doller tip, and the order itself was only 20 dollers, i usually tip 6 or so at the very least, stop being cheap

You bring me my food in the rain/snow whatever it may be and then care if you get tipped or not...driver don't get paid a whole lot and depend on tips...just like waitor. Do you need to tip then 10 bucks like you may some waitors? hell no. If you don't tip the drivers.... pretty foked up if ya ask me.

I worked for Domino's off and on for years. You get paid minimum wage (or just over it) then you get paid X amount of money (specific amounts differ store to store, franchise by franchise) per delivery and tips. If you take multiple orders out the door at once then you get the run money for each delivery - not just each physical trip out of the store.
If you have something fairly economical fuel-wise then you can easily make it worth your while as it is a no-brainer job and you can make up to $14-$15/hour after you factor in your run money and tips. If you work for a pizza joint that services primarily a crappy part of town this can be decidedly less, mind you...
I agree with the right car...you can make a decent amount...when you're putting that many miles on a car, MPG isnt the whole important thing though.

My bro and friend both deliver for the same place, only two of them in town so they go all over the place. They both bought old accords just for delivering and found a guy to do great work on em at great prices, when needed(rarely).

As for not tipping in the hood, often time my brother and buddy get tipped more in the hood then they do in the "rich" side. Half those people are in those houses because they are cheap ***** about everything else //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

Dunno bout other places, but where they work...your "$ per run(each pizza not house) depends on how many pizzas you deliver. The more you deliver the more you get per "run".
