Alrite so i go to this well know car audio shop rite and they carry some good stuff like Memphis, Pioneer, JL Audio and other like this. So i walk in and out of curiousity i ask the man if he has heard of the Stereo Integrity D2 Magnum and rite off the bat a co-worker of his shoots off "that is crap man, if we dont carry it, it is not good", //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif rite then that shit hit a nerve and i got pissed. i didnt show it but it wasnt exactly the comment it was how he said it that pissed me off. so the 1st dude was on his computer and i told him to look it up. okay he typed it in and said nothing came up. i looked at the screen and dude spelt it wrong and i told him and he spelt it wrong like 2 times before i spelt it out for him. so he gets to the website and doesnt even look at the specs or the info and calls it shit. He popped off at the mouth too and said " it has to be shit if it is not heard of by us" So i ask the 2nd buddy if he has heard or seen the D2."no" I would respect his earlier comment if he has heard of it before but the bastard never has. I dunno i just wanted to share this because it really got on my nerves at the moment. Oh yeah and this company "Lombards Audio" by the way has been est. since 1961 and i give it the worst customer service rating possible. I dont hate the store it is hella nice i mean it is a clean setup but that shift of workers really pissed me off with their comments. I wish i had the money for a nice D2 setup and show them what the called "no name shit" could do. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

i hate most local shops.. theyve never heard of any brands but mainstream, they dont talk to you unless you show them youre ready to spend a ton of money right then, they charge msrp, they assume you know nothing about car audio and make cocky comments like the ones posted above, they think they are god of the car audio world, etc

nothing to fear man, I have a story man, I went to a shop that I know the lead sales guy Is pretty cool he just makes stupid comments sometimes. He let me sit in a 2 door civic once with 2 eclipse 10's and an eclipse 200 watt amp, It sounded pretty good, and moderately loud and I asked him to flip the seats down for a little cabin gain, he told me EXACTLY this "you only have to do that with shitty speakers"This goes to show that NOBODY knows everything about car audio.People often talk and act like they do, but when it comes down to it, they are idiots. Given there are a lot of people that DO know a fair amount about car audio, and im thankful now that im getting there. It's all about helping people ya know.People who act like that just dont know, its not there fault, they think what they have is the best, so they will eventually find out later...that its not.

9/10 times they wont know what ur talking about so dont waiste ur time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

and that other 1 is that they have heard about it from a guy from a guy, so for the most part they still have no idea what it is...

it was just that they never heard the sub or seen it that made me mad. if you hear a sub and u give it your honest opinion i may not agree with you but i aint gonna start shit cuz yes people should be entitled to their opions. Has anyone else have had the same experiacne with shops?

i aint as mad know that i think about it. you guyz are rite i mean they are there to sell their products, i mean they got the bosses too, who proly tell their employees to do what ever to sell products. but im not worried about it, i just had to get it off my chest.

I find it amusing that you corrected somebody's spelling.

But yeah, local shops ****. I sometimes hear rumors of decent local shops, but its sort of like Bigfoot- Ive yet to see any real evidence.

Contrary to popular belief, most shops DO know what the products are and often run some themselves, but they won't say that because they want you to buy THEIR product, not ask for their advice and then buy something else. I help my dad with his insurance business and he gets calls all the time asking for a quote and how the products work, then as soon as they're done, they say they'll get back to him and send an email a few days later saying they're going t buy a product elsewhere.

ok lets look at it this way say you cleaned out drains for a living (got paid per job) and someone walked up to you with a bottle of super duty liquid plumber. they ask for your advice your time. you have something that would help but this person finds you "too expensive" how would you act? dont get me wrong im not bashing anyone just think about it a little bit.

Thankfully we have a real good shop here. They carry the mainstream stuff and can even order others. They are really nice and Ive got a buddy who works there and Im always asking him questions. Whether it be about wiring or building a box. On the other hand we do have a shitty place too. The guy loves Audiobahn. Its plain to see. Theres Audiobahn everywhere and then all the cheap stuff like Pyle and so on. And he too thinks he is a god.

Im waiting for the day he asks me what kind of subs I got so I can see the clueless look on his face. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

the "appear as god" aspect of a shop is them trying to look expert. if you wanna get by that crap dont get into a pissing match with people. im not saying shops are right or wrong by why burn any bridges? there is no need to act better than such and such. being on a high horse on either side just makes for a harder fall when someone out does you in any way shape or form (trust me it will happen to EVERYONE). stay humble you will learn alot better over a wider range of stuff. get arregant you wont be as sharp as you can/could be. unless the shop competes and wins at certain levels its really doubtful they know the most about product sound staging resonant frequences. also just because they dont know the most doesnt make them "bad" to go to. they might know alot about certain cars and things of that nature. most good shops try and help you but also realize they get paid for it. thats their job
