Pionner P880PRS

The higher end decks are always released later than all the other models. My local Premier dealer doesn't have them yet either. Not like it matters to me, I won't be getting one.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

We haven't gotten them in stock yet. Only units I know of that have shipped are the 680mp and under. I can't wait to get the 880prs's in though, one will probably be in my car when they do ship.

After looking at the lit for the new lineup I don't much care for ANY of them at all. The 880PRS doesn't even have a 24bit d/a converter. To get one you have to buy the 980/9800. To me that is BS. I'm a huge Pioneer fan and I will have NOTHING to do with this year's lineup.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

I found this a few days ago when I was searching for a deck. Didn't know which one I wanted - the color screen 780mp or the blue 680.

Pioneer Electronics webpage...

All the ones through 680(0)mp are out right now obviously. (I bought a 680mp on eBay for 217.)

This shows the 780(0)MP and 980(0)BT at the bottom.

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/press/release/detail/0,,2076_4313_291832622,00.html

In Apr: 780(0)MP $420 Suggested Price

In may: 9800BT $550, 980BT $570 Suggested Price

Note those are retail prices, so they'll be cheaper than that.

I would assume that the 8800PRS will be coming out between there. Hope that helps.

The whole d/a converter thing is totally overblown. Totally.
I disagree. I changed my home audio in the last year and my Universal player has 24bit conversion and the difference is night and day. My 860 compared to my 920 was night and day as well.

I'm not saying 1 bit can't sound good don't get me wrong. SACD is a 1 bit format but sounds phenominal. Probably due to the insane sampling frequency. But for the most part 20 to 24 bit conversion owns all.

I just don't understand what the hell that website says because the lit only shows the 980/9800 having a 24bit converter.

So, you can definitively say it was the d/a converter that did that...absolutely sure no other factor could play into it?

LOL. I can say that since I'm using the 860 in exactly the same way I used the 920. I didn't change any other component in the system when I replaced the 920 with the 860. Those 2 decks have the same processing capablities when used in standard mode. Albeit the 860 is capable of more but I only use it in standard mode. Other than the TA they are about the same. 13 band Eq, 6.5volt preouts. So when I replaced the 920 with the 860 it was clear that the d/a conversion in the 860 was clearly superior to the 920. 24bit vs 16bit...night and day. Especially when playing some 24bit compact discs.

After consulting my '06 pioneer lit I have come to the conclusion that the 780, 880, and 980 all have the same D/A, which it lists as a 24 bit Burr Brown. It might just be that whole 1 bit D/A with 24 bit resolution deal like on the Sony 7715x though.
