Hi all, newbie to this forum so please be gentle!
I have a VW T4 camper style van with the following audio system installed:-
Pioneer DEH-P7700MP head unit
Alpine KAC-5205 and Focal Auditor R-100C front
Caliber Competition CA-200 and Bose Acoustimass AM3 mkiv rear
Pyle PLA-4478 (4 channel, bridged to 2) and 2x Precision Devices PD.123C01 subs in custom cabinets.
I also have a pair of 80ah leisure batteries, 1 connected directly to each of the rear and sub amps and wired via a VSR to the starter battery and alternator. The front Kenwood amp is connected directly to the starter battery.
The system works very well, with a little too much brightness from the front (shame I don't have individual eq for front and rear speakers).
I have just swapped out the head unit for the Pioneer DEH-X8700 DAB and installed a sticking DAB antenna to the nsf windscreen. The 2 head units are very similar, with just the additional features and 4v preouts instead of 2.2ish.
I have noticed a background hiss and a high pitched whine is now present. It occurs when the engine is running or not, and is present on all sources. If the volume is at 00, then I can only hear a very faint hiss which is due to the amps gains being close to full up. But if I advance the volume to 01 or higher then the noise is immediately present, and does not get louder with the volume increasing.
I have tried connecting a ground wire directly from the head units ground to the chassis, but it made no difference.
I suppose my next move would be to make a new +12v connection directly to the starter battery, but I thought I would seek the opinion of you gurus before pulling my hair out!
Sorry for the long post, any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Luke
